Annie Mullady, 1870: “The burns, from the consequences of which her present disfigurement resulted, occurred four years previously in a railroad-car that precipitated over an embankment, causing a heated stove to fall upon her. Both lids of the left eye were entirely destroyed, leaving the eyeball uncovered and projecting beyond the orbit.”
